人设 = public persona

Persona /pəˈsəʊnə/

英文释义：the aspects of a person's character that they show to other people, especially when their real character is different

伪装；假象；人格面具 。也就是（与实际性格不同的）表面形象。

She goes to work as a volunteer teacher to get a positive public persona that she keeps away from fame and wealth.

她去支教以营造一个“人淡如菊”的人设。

卖人设 = sell the public persona

这里的 sell 是 使…接受、说服、推销 的意思，使别人接受你的人设。

He is trying to sell his public persona as a straight-A student again.

他又在卖他的学霸人设了。

straight-A student 科科都连续得A的全优生，也就是学霸咯~

卖人设用 sell，信不信这个人设，则可以用 buy 来表示。

Buy的这个用法，我们之前讲到过，buy 此处是买账、相信的意思。

人设崩塌 用 ruin 、go against

He ruined his "good man" public persona.

他的好男人人设崩了。

Recent news goes against her "talented woman" public persona.

最近的新闻颠覆了她的才女人设。
