Meet at the corner of an old street. There was a kind of connection, which happened in a sunny afternoon, when you were rambling on the streets in Dongshankou. When your body was awake, you started to notice the details around you: the old people sitting in the yard; the little cat stretching out in the sunshine; the sound made by a breeze gently touching the leaves. These little things accidentally met and thus connected, then created a special atmosphere which was natural yet charming. To be in that atmosphere, the urban noises were cut out and your heart was never so peaceful.「俩」生活研究所,正诞生在这样的社区中。
「DUO」Life Style Lab was born in a such area. DPD, as its owner and designer, has employed the concept of “Connect the second point of life”, tried to connect two different life styles: fast paced city style and the slow mode old street life. LIA is a complex which can hold art exhibitions and conferences, serve food and offer work space. It’s a live community with memories from old times.
Shadows of the trees cast on the white walls, displays an ever-changing nature of beauty.
「DUO」Life Style Lab is hidden under the old trees. Although its structure is simple, it’s full of the designer’s thinking. He wants to create the shape of light through the shadows of trees casted on the white walls. In order to achieve this special goal, he put the windows on the bottom and the top of the facade. It can vaguely show what’s going on inside to the passers-by outside. The border between inside and out has been blurred, which has reached a balance between the neat inner space and the casual street scenes.
At night, 「DUO」 becomes a shining box.

Immerse in the space of art. Walk through the glass door inside, a wide bright space with modern white walls and carefully positioned art pieced jumps into your eyes. The gallery takes most of the space in this lab because of the designer’s idea of “blank space” – leave more room for people to stay, immerse and think. In order to do so, the bar and shop were set in the corner. There’s also a seating area outdoor which allows people to get closer to nature and enjoy their peaceful time. The designer has used a semi-open design to dig unlimited possibilities. Apart from its routinely art display functions, it can also serve as an open platform to connect and build relationships. E.g. parties, lectures, conferences and work events.△ 造型多样的艺术品带动出空间明朗的节奏。Various of art pieces has set up the tone of the space
The sun beams have brought the quiet space alive. Various of art pieces light up the main space and set up the tone. The lights on the ceiling work together with the sun beams from outside to bring the quiet space to life. And the windowsill is the fine line between art and daily life. Surprises may come at any time.

The store is positioned near the entrance. Fun products from the lab can be purchased.
The bar in in front of a dark wall with warm yellow light strips.
The fairshaped sofa has balanced the harshness of the space. It’s nice-looking and comfortable.
The art pieces were shaped dynamically and with tension, which brought out the fun of the space.
With the change of sunlight, the space has witnessed the process of the lights appear, change, and vanish.
The designer has given the space an open structure, made changes possible.
Rest in the tranquil courtyard. Walk through the isle, you’ll get to a courtyard built by a glass wall and the building next door. Lights and shadows cast in the whole yard and on different materials. They’re like dancing elves, peculiar but transient. The best of time exist here, so please put down your phone and forget about sight-seeing. Have a nice cup of coffee and you’ll sure enjoy the precious moment of tranquility.△ 穿过建筑侧面的廊道,抵达庭院。To the courtyard through the isle.

The yard is surrounded by DPD office and tea mixture bar.
Work in the place of inspiration.「俩」生活研究所与其办公空间紧密相连。 A relaxing atmosphere can inspire staff’s creativity.
