要翻译成“Do you know”?

Last night the wind blew hard and rain was fine.

Sound sleep did not dispel the aftertaste of wine.

I ask the maid rolling up the screen.

"The same crabapple tree," she says, "was seen."

"But don't you know,

O don't you know,

The red should languish and the green must grow."

languish:v.

许渊冲老先生将“知否”译为“don't you know”,相比“Do you know”,更有韵味!后半句的“绿肥红瘦”译为“The red should languish and the green must grow.”,“The red ”统称为“红花”,“the green”统称为“绿叶”,“肥”对应“grow”,“瘦”对应“languish”。

Last night the rain was light, the wind fierce,

And deep sleep did not dispel the effects of wine.

When I ask the maid rolling up the curtains,

She answers, "The crab-apple blossoms look the same."

I cry, "Can't you see? Can't you see?

The green leaves are fresh but the red flowers are fading!"

扬戴两位老先生将“知否”译为“Can't you see?”,与许老先生的“don't you know”相差无几,后半句的“肥”对应“fresh”,“瘦”对应“fading”。

Last night the rain was scattered,

The gusts strong.

Deep slumber did not ease my hangover long.

I queried the one rolling up the blinds

And was told the flowering crabapples have kept their prime.

Do you know?

Do you know?

Now is the time when green should be corpulent

And red should be gaunt.

corpulent:adj.

gaunt:adj.
