《康熙字典》是清代康熙皇帝在康熙四十九年（1710年）三月下达上谕，诏令陈延敬等人以明代的《字汇》和《正字通》为蓝本编纂的，第一部以皇帝命名、第一次用「典」命名的字书，成书于康熙五十五年（1716年），历时6年，是古代字书的集大成者，其影响之大唯《说文解字》可相提并论，以至后来的众多字词典都仿效以「典」命名字书。
《康熙字典》堪称有清代学术史之巨著，中国辞书之权威。书自康熙五十五年问世以来，经多次翻刻、影印、排印出版。清代武英殿曾于康熙五十五年，和道光年间两次版印，此为清代光绪年间宫廷太史连纸复印，版刻清晰，行格疏朗，刷印精良，旧装一套6本，完整不缺。清内府刻本能保存如此之好，非常不易。
