China on Wednesday released a white paper to document the country's progress in mitigating climate change, and to share its experience and approaches with the rest of the international community.
The paper said that as the largest developing country in the world, China has adopted a number of policies, measures and actions to tackle climate change and take part in global climate governance, despite the difficulties this creates for its own economic and social development. These efforts have achieved positive results.
The paper said in 2020, China’s carbon intensity was 18.8 percent lower than that of 2015, exceeding the binding target set in the 13th Five-Year Plan. The drop in carbon intensity translates to a total reduction of about 5.8 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions from 2005 to 2020, and demonstrates that China has largely reversed the rapid growth of its carbon dioxide emissions.
Also, China gives priority to the development of non-fossil energy, the paper said. Preliminary calculations show that in 2020, non-fossil energy contributed 15.9 percent to China’s total energy consumption, a significant increase of 8.5 percentage points compared with 2005. China is also rapidly reducing its energy consumption intensity. Data show that the reduction from 2011 to 2020 reached 28.7 percent, one of the fastest in the world.

白皮书说，中国高度重视应对气候变化。作为世界上最大的发展中国家，中国克服自身经济、社会等方面困难，实施一系列应对气候变化战略、措施和行动，参与全球气候治理，应对气候变化取得了积极成效。
白皮书指出，2020年中国碳排放强度比2015年下降18.8%，超额完成“十三五”约束性目标，比2005年下降48.4%，超额完成了中国向国际社会承诺的到2020年下降40%－45%的目标，累计少排放二氧化碳约58亿吨，基本扭转了二氧化碳排放快速增长的局面。
此外，中国把非化石能源放在能源发展优先位置，大力开发利用非化石能源，推进能源绿色低碳转型。初步核算，2020年，中国非化石能源占能源消费总量比重提高到15.9%，比2005年大幅提升了8.5个百分点。
白皮书说，中国是全球能耗强度降低最快的国家之一，初步核算，2011年至2020年中国能耗强度累计下降28.7%。“十三五”期间，中国以年均2.8%的能源消费量增长支撑了年均5.7%的经济增长，节约能源占同时期全球节能量的一半左右。
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has discussed with industry stakeholders yesterday on intervening in the coal market to curb thermal coal prices, which led to a sharp drop in the coal and coke futures market. Thermal coal prices once tumbled to the daily-limit, before closing down 11.5 percent on Thursday, cutting almost half the historic hike recorded on October 19.

Ping An Insurance, the country's largest insurer by market value, posted a 31.2 percent fall in third-quarter net profit on Wednesday as its premium income shrank on a weak economy. Net profit of the first three quarter fell 21 percent to 81.6 billion yuan, while operating profit attributable to shareholders rose 9.2 percent year on year to 119 million yuan. Despite losses on investment assets, the group still have total assets exceeding 10 trillion yuan for the first time.
10月27日晚间，中国平安公布2021年三季报。前三季度，公司实现营运利润1187.37亿元，同比增长9.2％；净利润816.38亿元，同比下降20.8％。截至报告期末，中国平安总资产约为10.08万亿元，首次突破10万亿元大关。
CATL’s share price jumped 2.85 percent yesterday after the battery giant announced that it achieved revenue of almost 30 billion yuan and a net profit of 3.3 billion yuan in the third quarter, both recording a yearly increase of around 130 percent.
10月27日，宁德时代发布业绩公告，宁德时代第三季度实现营收292.87亿元，同比增长130.73%；净利润32.67亿元，同比增长130.16%。昨日，宁德时代股价上涨2.85%。
Li Ziqi, China’s most famous YouTuber with 16.3 million subscribers, is taking her multi-channel network partner, Hangzhou Weinian Brand Management, to court three months after she stopped uploading her popular Chinese rural life videos. The court case has prompted ByteDance to set aside a previous investment plan with the MCN firm.

China will defer around 200 billion yuan of tax payment for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing sector to ease the impact of rising costs, a State Council executive meeting decided on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to extend the preferential tax policy for overseas investors investing in the mainland bond market, as part of its efforts to promote opening-up and attract foreign investment.
10月27日召开的国务院常务会议，部署了对制造业中小微企业等实施阶段性税收缓缴措施，预计可为制造业中小微企业缓税2000亿元左右。另外，会议还决定延长境外投资者投资境内债券市场税收优惠政策，促进对外开放和吸引外资。

Chinese stocks continued to dip lower today with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.23 percent and the Shenzhen Component Index shed 1.03 percent. The Hang Seng Index closed 0.26 percent lower after a brief shoot-up in the morning.
周三A股继续低开低走，截至收盘，沪指报3518.42点，跌1.23%；深成指报14244.82点，跌1.03%。港股早盘冲高，午后震荡走弱，收跌0.28%报25555点。
