At 9:30 this morning, China's national carbon market started online trading. Carbon emissions by over 2,000 power companies covered in the first batch of trading are estimated to exceed more than 4 billion tons per year. The trade opened at 48 yuan per ton with the first transaction dealt at 52.78 yuan.
7月16日9时30分，全国碳排放权交易正式开市，占全国碳排放40%以上的2225家发电企业作为首批交易主体。碳配额开盘价为48元/吨，首笔全国碳交易成交价格为每吨52.78元。
China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) said Friday that the country is promoting the construction of coal reserve capacity. The goal is to form a coal reserve of 600 million tons of coal, equivalent to 15 percent of China’s annual consumption, among which 200 million tons can be directly dispatched by central and local governments, and 400 million tons are enterprise inventories.

The PBOC issued a white paper on the R&D progress of digital RMB, or e-CNY on Friday, saying that the central bank will continue steady promotions of pilot programs without setting any timetable. By June 30, 2021, the number of digital RMB pilot scenarios has exceeded 1.32 million, more than 20 million personal accounts and 3.5 million public accounts have been opened, making about 71 million transactions with 34.5 billion yuan.
