WUZHEN, November 23 (TMTPOST) – Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday highlighted the significant role of the Internet in economic recovery, normal operations of the society and international cooperation in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
In today’s world, a fresh technology revolution and industry upgrades are taking place, leading to fast advancement of digital technologies, Xi said in a congratulatory letter to the World Internet Conference | Internet Development Forum which started Monday in the town of Wuzhen in eastern China’s Zhejiang province.
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, long-distance medical services, online education, shared platforms and virtual work meetings have been widely used, Xi noted.
China is willing to join hands with other nations of the world to seize historic opportunities in the IT revolution, innovate and strengthen digital cooperation, foster a new paradigm for cyber security, build a community with a shared future in cyberspace and work together for a better future of mankind, said Xi, who also heads China’s Central Internet Security and Informatization Leading Group.
The World Internet Conference entered its seventh year in 2020, with the theme of "Digital Empowerment For a Better Future: Jointly Building a Community With a Shared Future in Cyberspace."
As an integral part of the conference, a two-day exhibition named “The Light of Internet Expo” kicked off on Sunday, showcasing cutting-edge technologies, achievements, products and applications of about 130 enterprises and research institutions from China and abroad.
