On Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 12 noon, at the Teson Grando of the Rialto Fish Market was inaugurated “StoricaMente - The Market of Knowledge,” an initiative included in the cycle of official events for the Celebrations of the Seven Hundred Years of the Death of Marco Polo.
In addition to the organizer and president of Wavents Massimo Andreoli, the ceremony was attended by Venice City Councilor delegate for Traditions Giovanni Giusto and “Marco Polo 700” Committee representative Laura Fincato.
The event was part of the I saperi di Marco Polo project for the preservation of craft and gastronomic traditions of excellence and aims to offer visitors a glimpse of daily life in a Venetian market at the time of Marco Polo.
There were carpenters, apothecaries, millers, papermakers, the seller of cloth from the Orient, the potter and the master saddler at work, admiring and touching artifacts and products historically linked to local traditions along the ancient trade routes of the 13th and 14th centuries.
The event, which continued until 6 p.m., was animated by historical, musical and theatrical groups and local cultural associations.
