只是“发信息”应用如此频繁

“发信息”不是 send a message

send a message

在英语中有这么个意思：

to make someone understand that a particular thing is right or true, or to make someone understand what your attitude is

让某人明白某件事是对的或真实的，或者让某人明白你的态度；向…发出明确信息

e.g：

①By taking this action, we are sending a message that bullying will not be tolerated.

通过采取这一行动，我们发出了一个明确的信息：欺凌行为不会被容忍。

②The magazine sends the wrong message about healthy weight to teenagers.

这份杂志在青少年的健康体重问题上发出了一个错误的信息。

而我们现在常说的“发信息”

老外会说text sb.就是打字给某人留言

e.g：

①I'll text you as soon as I get home.

我一到家就给你发信息。

②Text me when you arrive.

到了就给我发信息。

不管微信、短信这些消息都可以用text

想强调用“微信”就说：text me on WeChat

“送礼物”≠send a present

首先send的用法是没错的

send sb sth 或 send sth to sb

送某人某物

但是这个“送”和我们中文的“送”是有区别的

来看一个例子

他送了我一份礼物。

He sent me a present.（错误×）

He gave me a present.（正确√）

正确的表达应该是：give sb a present

因为send 所指的送其实是：寄送，传送

除非礼物是邮寄或由专人送去的

否则就不能用这个词

而give本身就有“赠送”的意思
