apple这个词，除了表达它的本意“苹果”之外，还有很多别的意思，尤其在英语俚语中的出现频率特别高。

1.a bad apple

这个短语也可以用a rotten apple，该短语来自于谚语'a bad apple spoils the bunch.' “一粒老鼠屎，搅坏一锅粥”。

6.wise apple

在美国的俚语中，apple可以用来代表“人，家伙”

而wise是“聪明的，智慧的”的意思

7.polish the apple

polish [ˈpɒlɪʃ] the apple可不能理解为“擦苹果、打磨苹果”

真正的含义是“拍马屁，讨好”

过去，美国学生为了讨好老师，会把擦得闪闪发光的苹果送给老师。这个俚语就是这么来的。
