The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics is now 100 days away, and the recent Covid-19 resurgence has yet to be contained.
The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported 50 new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases, taking the total number to over 200 in the latest outbreak, which has now spread to 11 provinces. Six regions have announce the suspension of all cross-provincial travels as of today.
A country-wide surge in Covid-19 cases also forced Beijing on Sunday to indefinitely postpone the annual Beijing marathon scheduled to be held later this month. Beijing authorities also restricted entry to the city on Monday, and asked citizens not to leave unless necessary.
The capital city reported 11 new infections from Sunday to Tuesday, bringing the accumulated number in the latest flare-up to 20, most of which are elderly people with a higher risk to develop severe conditions.
“The epidemic situation is severe and complex, and the epidemic risk and prevention pressure faced by the capital continue to increase,” a Beijing official said on Monday.
Meantime, the National Health Commission (NHC) is demanding faster and more accessible testing services in its latest effort to reinforce a zero-tolerance policy against the virus. NHC said testing agencies should provide 24-hour services to the public and strive to have results within six hours for those who volunteer to be tested.

冬奥会在即，北京的疫情却更加严峻复杂。从周日到周二，北京新增11例确诊病例。本轮新冠疫情中，北京已总计确诊20例，其中17例确诊病例中1例57岁，其余均在61至69岁之间，14例分别患有多种基础疾病。专家组认为部分病例可能转重。
突如期来的疫情也迫使北京马拉松组委会宣布，原定于本月31日进行的北京马拉松延期举行。周一，北京冬奥组委发布了《北京2022年冬奥会和冬残奥会防疫手册》，提出将对未接种疫苗的人员进行21天集中隔离。
10月26日，国务院应对新型冠状病毒肺炎疫情联防联控机制医疗救治组《关于进一步强化当前新冠病毒核酸检测服务的通知》，指出当前局部地区出现小规模聚集性疫情和零星散发病例，暴露出部分地区核酸检测机构布局不合理、检测服务不够便捷、检测结果反馈不及时等问题。通知要求，核酸检测机构要向社会提供24小时核酸检测服务；对“愿检尽检”人群的核酸检测，要力争在6小时之内报告结果，并通过信息化手段及时推送。
China on Wednesday released a white paper on the country's policies and measures for responding to climate change. The paper said in 2020, China’s carbon intensity was 18.8 percent lower than that of 2015, exceeding the binding target set in the 13th Five-Year Plan.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced today that 16 provinces in China have raised the provincial basic pension for urban and rural residents, which would benefit more than 72 million elderly people. The ministry also announced raising the minimum wage in 18 provinces including Beijing, Shanghai, and Zhejiang.
10月27日，人社部在2021年第三季度新闻发布会上透露，16个省份提高了城乡居民养老保险省级基础养老金，此项调整惠及7209万城乡老人。此外，北京、上海、浙江等18个地区调整最低工资标准。

China's total profit of industrial enterprises above designated size soared 44.7 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2021, and jumped 16.3 percent year-on-year in September, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Wednesday.

Chinese ride-hailing platform T3 Mobility has banked 7.7 billion yuan in the biggest single fundraiser by a company in the field since 2018. The Series A financing round was led by a Citic consortium and also included existing investors such as the investment units of Tencent and Alibaba.

Sam’s Club, Walmart’s members-only chain in China, has denied claims of anti-competitive conduct, saying an internal investigation found it had not barred its suppliers from working with other similar stores, a practice rife in Chinese retail that has come under increasing regulatory ire since last year.

Shares of Chinese new energy vehicle maker BYD soared to an all-time high yesterday after the rumour of 20 percent battery price increase next month. BYD Lithium Battery was allegedly planning to raise the prices of its products. Media reported that BYD refused to comment. Today, BYD’s share prices added 0.86 percent.
继昨日一度涨超5%，创历史新高，比亚迪股票今日再涨0.86%。10月26日，网传的一份比亚迪电池价格上调联络函称，由于锂电池原材料不断上涨，2021年11月1日起，公司上调C08M等电池产品单价，含税价格在现行的瓦时（Wh）单价基础上，统一上涨不低于20%。媒体报道，比亚迪回复称对此事“不予置评”。

Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday with both major indexes in Shanghai and Shenzhen losing near 1 percent. The Hang Seng Index also shed 1.57 percent in closing.
