停机坪上的机场工作人员每天都能见到。

For airport staff on the apron, this is a daily occurrence.

每一次的平安起落，地服人都感到欣慰 Every safe landing brings a sense of relief to the ground crew

飞机刚刚滑行到停机位时，发动机后的空气像被“打了马赛克”一样，热浪涌动。这时的发动机周围空气温度约为600℃。5分钟之后，发动机后的空气温度仍然高达200℃。即使热空气冷却，停机坪上的气温也远高于城市市区。

As the plane taxis to its parking spot, the air behind the engines appears distorted, forming a “blurry” image from the shimmery heat waves. The temperature of the air surrounding the engines is currently up to about 600℃. Five minutes later, the air temperature around the engines is still a searing 200℃. Even with the hot air cooling down, temperatures on the apron remain exceptionally higher than the city center.

7月24日，武汉发布今年首个高温红色预警。在武汉天河国际机场的停机坪上，将温度计置于空气中，温度显示为46.5℃。机场工作人员身着防晒的长袖长裤和反光背心，在热浪中挥汗如雨。

On July 24th, Wuhan issued its first red heat alert this year. At Wuhan’s Tianhe International Airport, a thermometer held in the air rose to 46.5℃. Airport staff, all in protective long-sleeved shirts, long pants and reflective vests, were dripping with sweat as they pushed through the heat wave.

他们中有人是机务工程师，因为检修放行后，向机组挥手“拜拜”，被网友们称为“飞机拜拜员”，每一天每一位机务工程师要迎来送往十几架次飞机，每架次飞机都要绕机检查3遍，包括热气腾腾的飞机发动机。

Among the staff were aircraft maintenance engineers who, after completing inspections and clearances, waved goodbye to the flight crew, earning the nickname “airplane farewell officers” from netizens. Each day, each engineer handles more than a dozen aircrafts, conducting three thorough inspections around each aircraft, which includes checking the sweltering hot engines.

飞机加油 Refueling an aircraft

他们中有人是行李装卸工，在约为1.1米高的飞机货舱中，每天弯腰1000多次。由于空间相对密闭，身体感受与蒸桑拿无异，装卸工们的工作服每天要湿透十几回。

Airport baggage handlers who work inside aircraft cargo approximately 1.1 meters tall, spend a large portion of their time bent over. Working within this relatively confined space creates a physical sensation akin to being in a sauna, leaving the staff’s uniforms constantly drenched in sweat throughout the day.

他们中有人是机坪监护员，每天在近50℃的停机坪上暴走3万步，负责查验巡视区域内所有人员的工作牌、车辆通行证，防止无关人员、车辆、物品靠近或进入飞机，确保飞机安全。

Another group of workers includes the security personnel, trudging roughly 30,000 steps per day on the apron where the mercury can rise to nearly 50°C, they are tasked with inspecting the work passes and vehicle permits of all personnel in the patrol area. They secure aircrafts by preventing unauthorized individuals, vehicles, and items from approaching or entering aircrafts.

为预防中暑，武汉天河机场的后勤工作人员准备了冰袋，放置在反光背心中，可以瞬间为身体降温；准备了绿豆汤、酸梅汤、电解质水等降暑冰饮，为员工解渴降温。

Wuhan Tianhe Airport has taken preventive measures against heatstroke by preparing ice packs which can be placed inside the reflective vests to instant cool the body. Additionally, beverages such as mung bean soup and sour plum soup, which are traditionally hailed for their naturally cooling properties, as well as electrolyte water are provided to airport workers to both quench their thirst and lower their body temperature.

三伏天正值暑运高峰期，也是武汉天河机场一年中最繁忙的时段之一。旅客的每一趟空中旅程，所看不到的背后，是无数民航人在停机坪的挥汗如雨和默默付出。他们的劳动成果，值得我们珍惜。

Summer travels peak right around the time temperaturesbegin to surge, which falls between mid-July to mid-August, a period referred to as “three summers”. Undoubtedly, it is one of the busiest times of the year at Wuhan Tianhe Airport. Yet, behind every passenger's journey in the air lies the unseen and tireless efforts of countless aviation staff on the scorching airport aprons. Such a labor of love deserves our appreciation.
